Our company suggests you to make the attractive tour along the Trans-Siberian Road by regular scheduled trains. We use the best trains for our tours: named trains and express passenger trains.
The most comfortable and fast trains at Transsib are named trains, for example, number 1/2"Rossiya" (Moscow-Vladivostok), 5/6 "Okean" (Khabarovsk-Vladivostok), 9/10 "Baikal" (Moscow-Irkutsk). But cost of named trains is higher that cost of express passenger trains.
Typical representative of express passenger train are number 7/8 (Novosibirsk-Vladivostok), 11/12 (Chelyabinsk-Chita), 43/44 (Moscow-Khabarovsk). Cost of express passenger train ticket is lower than cost of named train ticket, but comfort level is not worse. Sometimes express passenger trains have more stops, but it is not a rule.
For example, timetable and itinerary of train 7 (Vladivostok-Novosibirsk) is the same as train 1 "Russia" (Vladivostok-Moscow). The difference is that final distination of train 1 is Moscow and the same of train 7 is Novosibirsk (Novosibirsk is between Moscow and Vladivostok). Besides, train 1 operates on even days, train 7 operates on odd days.
Named and express passenger Russian trains have 2 categories of vagons: 1st class ("SV") and 2nd class ("kupe"). 1st class cabin has 2 berths (2 down) for 2 persons, 2nd class cabin has 4-berths (2 up, 2 down) for 4 persons. There is almost no difference between 1st and 2nd class compartment. Neither has shower cabin and own toilet. But there is toilet with wash-basin at the end of every wagon. About 30 minutes before the train arrives at the station the toilet is closed. There is trash can in the end of carriage, near the WC, under the seat in the corridor.
Provodnik or provodnitsa
Prvodnik (a man) or provodnitsa (a women) are staff of each train carriage. They check train tickets of passengers, keap the public area of the carriage clean, give bed linen to the passengers. Cost of train tickets includes cost of bed linen, so, you should not pay for bed linen additionally.
All abroad
All trains have a restaurant car. But most of passengers of Russian trains (Russian and foreign) prefer to bring their own food, such us pot noodles, cookies, fruits, tea and coffee. Staffs of the train sell some kinds of food, but cost is higher than in city shops. It is better to buy food beforehand.
At the beginning of the carriage, near the cabin of "provodnik" there is the "samovar". It is a type of fire-powered kettle. You can pour hot water for your tea.
When the train makes a stop, you will see old ladies "babushka" that sell homemade food. Please, do not buy food from them, if you do not want to have stomach problems.
Security.
Do not leave document and valuables unattended in the compartment, as elsewhere. Cabin can be locked inside with the clip.
