Primorsky region
The nature of our region is really beautiful. There are mountain ranges, valleys along fast-flowing rivers, the most shallow lake Hanka, unusual shorelines topped by rock cliffs, amazing waterfalls.
Our region is good looking in any season. "Taiga at the ocean" by Alexsander Laptev.
Spring
Rapid taiga streams carry thawed. The buds swell and burst upon the trees, making the forest look green and new. The first grass appears through last year stubble. Tree buds swell and make the forest look green and new. The forest is full of the clamor of birds. It is busy time for forest dwellers. They form pairs and make new homes. One may see a pair of Mandarin ducks swimming on a silent river channel or gray wagtail nesting on the cliffs. One can hear dubbing of the woodpecker, the inviting cries of the Chinese oriole, indistinct cooking of the blue flycatcher that is considered the best performer in the forest. The first insects appear in the forest glades. Lean bears wake up after their winter sleep and sniffing the smells of melted soil and listening to the sounds of coming twilight, the badger also leaves its wintering home. The smell of cherry blossom fills the air and a pair of pheasants is vividly calling behind the river. In sunny fields, lilies-of-the-valley are waiting to blossom among emeralds vegetation. Somewhere high in the sky there is a field-lark singing. Life is plentiful everywhere, and everything is happy with sun.
Summer
The trees have coved with thick leaves and now sunbeams can cut through their barrier. Enclosed within green vegetation the forest shelters its dwellers from foreign eyes and interference. The fern, together with hitched from bough to bough lianas, make our forest look like a real jungle. The air in the fields and blooming clearings in the wood are fully with drumming, buzzing, chirping, and hopping insects. The peak of summer is the time of beautiful butterfly. Purple emperors, red under-wing moths, motley moths and holly blue butterflies cover sands and forest puddles with a living carpet. There is honey blooming lime trees
Fall
It is still warm in the daytime, but in the evening one face feels freshness in the air.Taiga is very beautiful in the September and October. The forest fills with light and glows in gold and red colors of thinned out leaves. Crisping fallen leaves cover wet ground and paths with a multicolored carpet. The red, rosy, brown caps of autumn mushrooms can be seen in the brownish grass. There is therapeutic juicy fruit of the Chinese magnolia vine, the grape, and the tara vine. The chipmunk is busy all day with laying a store for the winter. Flying period for many insects is over. Hardly seen before, ladybirds became abundant. Some fine day there are so many of them that they collide in the air, fall to the ground, hurriedly crawl somewhere and take off again. Flocks of beautiful birds will leave their cold partly iced lakes flying to the south till the next spring.
Winter
Frost has bond the ground and has covered lakes and rivers with a panoply of ice. First flakes are small and rare but they become heavier and heavier. The white quietness of the forest is deceitful because life never stops for even minutes. The fancy footprints left by the forest dwellers on this white blanket vividly prove it. These chains of prints belong to mice that go from one shrub to another looking fir soft fresh bark under the snow. But even there quick agile weasels, gracious ermines, and bright red Japanese minks hunt them. Nice earned foxes unmistakably find them even deep in the snow. Winter is sever time for animals and birds. Winter is severe time for animals and birds. Cold is not even the main problems. It is hunger. During short daytime small birds - nuthatches and tomtits - are busily examining each branch looking for wintering larvae. Small flocks of waxwings go from one wind apple tree to another in search for left out sour apples. Wild boar heavily poached the snow near the oak trees. They looked for acorns that out after previous season. But they were scared away because their prints go sideway as a fan and join again only on the other side of the hills leaving deep tunnel in the virgin snow. Here is the stirrer-up of trouble. In a small gap with dense shrubs one can see large pans of feline footprints. The tiger spent much time lying in wait, the snow even melted on that place. However, not having waited for the boars to come close enough the tiger decided to move towards them and left its hiding place but betrayed itself by a careless motion. It made several leaps chasing the cluttering herb, but stopped it and went to another place where it would probably be luckier.
